Holiday Listing Marketing

Decorating for the holidays are wonderful and can give your home an inviting appeal. However…. there are a few cons to having a holiday-inspired home when you are trying to put it on the market for sale.

Holiday Decorations

  • Distract the viewer from the space/property itself.
  • Reveal that the home’s listing is outdated or has been on the market for awhile (if it hasn’t been sold beforehand).
  • May conflict with the viewer’s beliefs, values, or culture.

Keep in mind that during the Christmas season, December is usually the slowest month for the real estate market. Although many homes still sell during this month, the realities of the home selling quickly are much lower than the remainder of the year.

Neutrality is KEY.

Keep your home as neutral as possible in order to attract your home to more potential homebuyers (and sell faster). You want any and all potential homebuyers the ability to imagine themselves living there, without decorations that may conflict with one’s beliefs or culture.

Decorations itself (holiday and/or regular home decor) can distract the viewer from the space/property, causing them focus on the items instead. Many buyers are unable to look past decorations that don’t suit their taste, and may judge your property based on such things. Decor should be kept at a minimum and always neutral to beliefs.
